1950s dorm girls listen to records
If you’ve listened to WPIT?!
with any regularity, you know by now that the last Wednesday of every month is when I bring a bunch of my favourite vinyl records for a listen. Today happens to be that great, warm, crackly day!
I think of it as inviting a few friends over to share some good tunes, some good wine and a good time.
Kick back, relax, maybe invite some friends over for wine and tune in from 4:00 to 6:00 for a sample of my record collection.
What you can’t quite read in the given image is that you can drop off your donations at:
Suite 301 – 1102 8th Ave (near Winnipeg St)
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Or call 525-7274 to arrange for pickup
Your donations will then be sold at our annual garage sale coming up in early June.
Head to cjtr.ca for more info.
It’s Regina’s week-long festival for creative arts and it’s already half over. Live music, theatre, poetry, storytelling and other fun are going on throughout the week, topped off with the traditional CVAF Street Fair on Saturday. It’s a total riot! Thousands of people out for the stage performances, buskers, professional art for sale, and let’s not forget the mini doughnuts.
Here are a few pics from 2005.
Here are a few pics from 2010.
Apparently the pics from other years never made it online.
Come on out. Shows are all FREE (donation only).
CJTR will be hosting the Athol St Stage once again. Be sure to swing by from 3:00 to 5:00, as I will be hosting the Athol St CJTR stage. Just look for the guy wearing some kind of classy hat and talking too much in between bands. :-]
I hope to see you there for another fun time at one of my favourite festivals of the year!
I wish it would rain a little.
At least it’s not winter. At least it’s not winter. At least it’s not winter. At least it’s not winter. At least it’s not winter.
Tune in from 4:00 to 6:00 for some great music.
Picture yourself on a boat in a river.
No, wait; In a canoe on a lake. Yeah. The Saskatchewan lakewater is calm – so calm you might as well be drifting on air. Your faithful old dog sleeps at the bow while you stretch out at the stern. If only it weren’t for these damned mosquitoes! Aside from the odd buzz around the ears, you’re sure you’ve never felt closer to being at one with everything.
With your eyes closed, you can hear what might be a deer or beaver in the nearby brush. Your dog’s ears perk up a little then flop back down without your notice. Somewhere in the back of your mind you know there’s work to be done, but that’s elsewhere and otherwhen. Here and now, none of it matters.
As the watercraft moves slowly around in a circle with its middle as the axis, you hear music. There isn’t a man-made building for miles in any direction on the nearby land, but you don’t wonder where the music is coming from. You don’t question or reason it. You just know that it is and after a while, you even sing along, through the brim of your hat that has been pulled down over your face, as though you know every note.
Tune in from 4:00 to 6:00 PM and take it easy tonight.
Things could be worse.
It’s getting warmer, festivals are just around the corner, big events at CJTR are coming up… Life’s good.
What better way to spend the good life than listening to some great music, relaxing with drink-of-choice in hand, perhaps with a few close friends, maybe just some laid-back time alone?
Tune in from 4:00 to 6:00 for some great springtime refreshments and, as always, check this page for a playlist during the show.
